Orthopedic Surgeon, Sub-specialist in arthroplasty & trauma.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and orthopedic specialty certificate from Addis Ababa University School of Medicine. He completed traveling fellowships at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and Rush-Presbyterian in Chicago. He then completed his subspecialty fellowships in orthopedic trauma and joint replacement at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences and Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centres, University of Toronto, Canada.

After his return, he introduced advanced operative management of complex pelvic and acetabular fractures in Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion) Specialized Hospital and Ethiopia at large. His other subspecialty is total hip and knee joint replacements. He pioneered a muscle-sparing, minimally invasive surgical approach technique for hip replacement surgery, known as the direct anterior approach, in the region. After further study in Belgium, he has introduced the efficient direct anterior hip replacement concept in Ethiopia. This technology has many advantages, including a very low risk of complications, a smaller scar, efficient surgical technique, and a shorter rehabilitation process.

He is currently orthopedic surgery instructor at the Orthopaedics Department of Tikur Anbessa (Black Lion) Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa University.
He works as a part-timer at the Samaritan Surgical Center.
His special focus of practice includes:
